我所看見的未來 (What I foresee in the Future) -嚴長壽

我始終相信，觀光旅遊有更重大的意義，就是和全世界做朋友，而且是讓台灣和全世界做朋友。

(I am convinced that the sightseeing industry holds a deeper significance: It helps us make friends with the world; 
to be specific, it can bring Taiwan friends from all over the world.)

這是我一生最大的信念。(This is What I’ve Believed in All My Life.)

 
青年旅遊 -- 將年輕人帶上國際舞台。
(Youth Travel Helps the Young Hooked to the World) 

休學一年Gap Year去旅行。
It has been a trend (趨勢) (in some western countries) for some will-be college students (i.e., high-school graduates) to take a year off before entering college.  They suspend (暫時停止) their studies for a year and take advantage of the precious opportunity to travel abroad. It is called, “Gap Year.” Some may do likewise (同樣地) after graduation from college, before starting their full-time job.

通常一趟旅行下來，這個年輕人會快速成長，培養出勇氣(courage).毅力(perseverance) .獨立自主的能力(independence).開闊的視野(broad horizons)，一生受益無窮。

相較之下，台灣的大學生很少有這樣探索世界的安排。

By contrast, college students in Taiwan seldom earn themselves this kind of opportunity.  

大家只是努力讀書，急著趕快畢業，急著開始工作。

As is known to all of us, most college graduates are eager to graduate, to find a job, to earn more money, to follow what they are told to do.

年輕時喪失認識世界的機會，實在是一大損失。

It is sure a great loss not to explore the world while one is young.
